Songwriting workshop description:

This event is inclusive of a range of skill levels and is for anyone who wants to learn more about songwriting. Whether you have never written a song, are just beginning to write/improvise, or have songs you would like to work on, you are invited to attend. The workshop will be tailored to fit the interests and needs of the group. Our intention is to share collective learnings and plant seeds for new songs. The theme is “Songs of Resilience,” which includes topics such as activism, anti-oppression, self care, community, and sustainability.

Osprey will share tips, tools, and tricks from their direct experience writing a multitude of songs. Themes may include: Inspiration/choosing a topic, creativity & intuition, outsmarting the inner critic, editing with grace, expressing emotional content, and the relationship between lyrics, melody, and rhythm. Depending on group interest, Osprey will focus on the process of writing simple circle songs and/or more expanded songs with verses, etc.

Song circle description:

We will teach a number of curated songs, such as Osprey’s famous original Grief and Praise. This circle will focus on song technology that is meant to inspire, uplift, rejuvenate, and create the kind of change for collective liberation that we wish to live into. Bring a song to share that helps you to keep on keeping on in the movement.

Potluck:

Following the song circle we invite you to bring a dish and stay for dinner at the farm! We will have sharpies and paper for people to label ingredients in case people have allergies.

Cost:

We work on a sliding scale basis. If you attend, please consider contributing anywhere from $10-$50 for the workshop at the door. All proceeds will go to our visiting artist Osprey!
